AUGUST + MIKAELA = 4EVER

It all started with an accidental peck during a game of “pass the card around” at a basketball camp more than 15 years ago. During the annual night of game tournaments arranged by the coaches, in one game the team had to quite literally pass a card around - using their mouths. An accident that August likes to describe as their first kiss.

And then in September 2016 they matched on Tinder. But nothing more really happened until 25th of October with a message of “So, do you like cheese?”.

16th of December August mustered up the courage to “fråga chans”, as we say in Sweden. And Mikaela said yes. Afterwards August let her know that he had already confirmed their status as boyfriend and girlfriend in official papers during military drafting procedures the day before. Manifesting king.

Now 8 years later they have experienced distances with August in Nepal, or with August in the US and Mikaela in Canada. They have lived and studied in Lund. They have been a foster home to homeless cats, and have spent cold winter mornings taking care of goats. They have travelled to places like Bali, Italy, Gdańsk, Rio de Janeiro, Montréal and the Amazon forest. And a pandemic.

Now they live together with their adopted kittens Göte and Rakel on Söder in Stockholm, with August pursuing his dreams of economics and sustainability and Mikaela getting to combine her work in recruitment and equality with a childhood dream of painting and selling her art.

And now they are getting married. Who would have thought from that accidental kiss during a basketball camp all those years ago?
